Where should I host my blog?

I have had this blog up for almost 6 years now. And I’ve been hosting it on WordPress.com (the hosted WordPress option) for the last 4 years. I blog fairly infrequently, so WordPress.com is more than adequate for most of my needs, but there are a few things it doesn’t let me do, like adding widgets – because WP only supports a small number of them in the hosted model. I would also like to switch to FB comments on my blog. Don’t think WP supports that.

Moreover, I realized that I pay godaddy for the domain motukuri.com, then I pay WordPress for hosting my blog, and then again I pay WordPress for mapping the domain to the blog. Like everyone else, I’d like to pay less. As the domain mapping is up for renewal, I would love to hear what people think – should I move my blog to another platform or stay put?
